Privacy Policy

Who we are

The Radical Housing Journal (RHJ) is an orientation, a praxis for doing research and action. It seeks to critically intervene in pre and post-crisis housing experiences and activist strategies from around the world without being confined to the strict dogmatism of academic knowledge production.

We publish a journal on these issues, and our website address is radicalhousingjournal.org.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Forms

If you submit info to us via our Submission, Peer Reviewer, or other forms, we will store this data and use it for its intended purpose. Please do not submit any data via our forms that you do not want stored online or offline by the RHJ.

Donations

We use PayPal to receive donations from supporters. When you click on our Donate button you will be redirected to their site, and if you have concerns you should review PayPal’s privacy policy here. We will receive general information about your identity and payment method when you make a donation via PayPal, but we never receive or store your credit card or account numbers.

Email mailing list

We have a form on our website to subscribe to our email mailing list, which we manage using the Mail Chimp service. Every message that we send to this list is clearly identified as coming from the RHJ, and you can unsubscribe from this list at any time by using the links included in every email or by contacting us directly.

Cookies

Our website uses some cookies to improve your browsing experience and to allow us to monitor our site’s usage and visitor statistics. We use some third-party services such as AddThis and Google Analytics which may track your activity on other pages as well as ours. These services do not provide us with data on your individual identity (AddThis will show you social sharing tools that you use most, for example, and Google Analytics reports aggregate visitor statistics to us).

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long we retain your data

If you submit us information via a form on our site or make a donation via PayPal, that data is retained indefinitely unless you contact us to delete it. Visitor logs and other site usage data may also be retained indefinitely so that we can resolve problems and screen for abuse.

If you subscribe to our email mailing list, that information will be stored in Mail Chimp unless you request that we delete it. If you unsubscribe from our email list, we store your email address and other data in Mail Chimp in order to flag you as unsubscribed so that you cannot be added again without your consent.

What rights you have over your data

If you have submitted any data via our website, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If you have any further questions or suggestions for improving this privacy policy, please feel free to contact us.
